The members of the New Image Group defy classification into any one category. The invitational group of studio quilt artists, which has deliberately remained at around a dozen active members, formed in 1980 and some of the core founders still participate. For those who have followed the work of these artists over the years, it is exciting to see the direction and development of individual styles, techniques and mediums. The works range from traditional pieced and hand-quilted original designs to abstract conceptual pieces with machine quilting.
