WORD from the EDITOR
April 2009
This month, we introduce you to Pam Blehert and Mary Anne Matteson-Sturcken, realist painters who are adept at capturing life’s quiet moments as well as more traditional portraits and landscapes. Also featured is John M. Adams, an abstract artist whose layered paintings carry subtle messages about perception, and Mark Krikstan, artistic director of Tysons Corner’s first and only professional theater. We also offer two Further Afield reviews for April: Pierre Bonnard’s interior paintings at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and iconic photographs at The Art Institute of Chicago.
